Marian commenced studies at the University of Pretoria in 2015, culminating in her obtaining a BA Law degree in 2018, an LLB degree in 2020 and a prestigious membership to the Golden Key International Honour Society for outstanding academic achievement.
As a Candidate Attorney at de Chalains IP, Marian is responsible for the diligent handling of IP matters across the full spectrum. In particular, she performs trade mark searches with opinions; prepares filings, handles official actions and renewals; and assists with contentious matters at the High Court and at the Trade Marks Office. Her enthusiasm and initiative, as well as excellent planning and organizational skills enables Marian to independently attend to the successful completion of numerous tasks simultaneously.
Marian is currently enrolled for the Attorney’s Admission Exams in March 2021. She is also a student member of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property (SAIIPL), and plans to complete her preliminary examinations in 2021 covering SA Trade Mark Law, SA Patent Law, SA Design Law, SA Copyright Law, and Comparative TM Law.
Away from the office she is involved and dedicated to animal rescue and the fostering of animals in distress. Her (little) remaining spare time is spent relaxing and reading an interesting book with a good (strong) cup of ( bottomless) coffee
